Notes from Mr. Brummitt

The GREATEST gift we have is our children. They are the FUTURE, they are our LEGACY and they are our GREASTEST responsibility.

Our children will face challenges we cannot begin to imagine in our ever-changing world. If they know their family has given them the tools to be successful and to be good people they will meet those challenges with open minds and open hearts.

In additional to the basic necessities of life, the greatest gifts we can give our children is that we Believe in them, we Trust them and we are There for them.

As parents we have hopes and dreams for our children.

I talk to our kids often about what their parents want for them and there are four things I stress with them that are universal.

Work Hard

Do your best

Be a good person

Be happy

Now that the holiday season is well upon us, it seems that gifts and things become the focus for many in our society and culture. Our hopes and dreams for our children could be the most treasured gift we can give.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year. Thank you as always for sharing your children with us.

Facebook
OES now has an official Facebook page!

Facebook is a great way to communicate school news, photos, videos and upcoming events. This is a good way of engaging you in your children's daily activities more effectively.

We hope by using social media we will improve communication between the school and the community. We would love to be able to share more photos with you that would show you what the students are up to at school. Don't forget to like our page!

As a parent of a student at Olathe Elementary School you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teacher who instructs your child. This is a requirement for all districts that receive Title I funds. Federal law allows you to request certain information about your student’s classroom teacher. The law also requires the district to give you this information in a timely manner upon request. Listed below is the information about which you have the right to ask for regarding each of your student’s classroom teachers. • Whether the Colorado Department of Education has licensed or endorsed your student’s teacher for the grades and subjects taught.
• Whether CDE has decided that your student’s teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.

• The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and, if so, the subject of the degrees.
• Whether any teachers’ aides or similar paraeducators provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
Please contact Linda Weyers at 970-249-7400 if you would like to receive any of this information.
