Wow, what a great way to start our 2017-2018 school year! The solar eclipse was amazing and allowed all of our children, staff and many parents to experience science at its best.

We have begun our year with 450 students, including 96 kindergartners. This is the largest kindergarten class we have had in years.

OES is starting our second year as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Last year all students were engaged in problem solving to make their school, community and world better and I look for great things this year.

Bridges is our new district adopted math program. Our children as well as staff will be learning through this year of implementation. You will be hearing more about Bridges.

I am excited about the possibilities this year brings. If you are able to come volunteer, we love to have volunteers. If you every have questions or we can help, call or come by. As always thank you for sharing your children with us.

End of Day Pick-up

The improvements to North 3rd Street were much needed. The town wants to keep traffic flowing on North 3rd Street, thus at the end of the day cars are not allowed to wait and back up on the street.

We have limited parking thus are not able to accommodate all of those here to pick up children. If you need to arrive early, park in a designated parking area only. The pick-up loops are not parking areas. If you are here to pick up your child, DO NOT arrive before 3:00.

However, the best solution is for your child to ride the school bus if you live where busing is available.

The amount of traffic is heavy at the end of the day. Please bear with us as we come up with a workable solution for all as student safety is always our primary concern.

Children with last names beginning A-M will pick up in the front loop and those with last names beginning N-Z will pick up in the back loop.

The safety for your child is our main concern.
Mr. Brummitt
